Who can apply?

Studies can be undertaken by people who hold:

  • diploma of higher education (at least Licencjat or equivalent, e.g. bachelor) awarded in any field.

A diploma obtained at a foreign university is equal to the documents issued in Poland as long as it confirms the candidate's eligibility to undertake the second-cycle programmes of study.

Qualified candidates need to have graduated from the declared study programme by the time of enrollment and have at least a certificate of graduation.

Qualification criteria

Admission rules have been established in the resolution no 58/VI/2024 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on June 24, 2025.

The final admission result is calculated based on the following elements:

element weight
document analysis 80%
the interview 20%

Document analysis

Points for the documents submitted by the candidate will be allocated as follows:

  1. assessment of the motivation letter written in English (preliminary thesis project will also be assessed as part of the motivation letter)—maximum of 40 points,
  2. assessment of two reference letters—maximum of 40 points (max. 20 points).

The interview

The interview focuses on the candidate's knowledge and research interests, as well as their planned master's thesis, and predisposition and motivation to study in a selected field. The interview is conducted in English.

Further information will be provided later.

Interviews are conducted remotely (online) using distance communication tools (such as Microsoft Teams). To participate in a remote interview, the candidate must have a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as access to a webcam. During the interview, the examiner will verify the candidate’s identity (based on the presented identity document) and ensure the independence of their work.
