Before applying, read the information on the website carefully: application step–by–step.

Who can apply?

Studies can be undertaken by people who hold: 

• Polish Matura (2005–2026),
• International Baccalaureate,
• European Baccalaureate,
• International secondary education document: a document entitling its holder to undertake first- or long-cycle studies in its country of issue, 
• Polish maturity certificate (issued up until 2005).

Qualification criteria

Admission rules have been established in resolution no—8/I/2026 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University on January 28, 2026. 

One subject result from the following is chosen, guaranteeing the highest possible score for the candidate. This result becomes the candidate’s final result on the ranking list.

The final admissions result is calculated based on the following elements:

The interview

The interview aims to assess the candidate’s aptitude for undertaking studies in an individual mode and to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge and interests that go beyond the secondary school curriculum. The interview is conducted in English.

Candidates are notified of the interview details individually through their IRK accounts in the “Messages” tab after the application round is closed and at least a day before the exam session specified in the schedule. 

Interviews are conducted remotely (online) using distance communication tools (such as Microsoft Teams). To participate in a remote interview, the candidate must have a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as access to a webcam. During the interview, the examiner will verify the candidate’s identity (based on the presented identity document) and ensure the independence of their work.

Additional formal requirement

An additional formal criterion is the successful completion of the admission interview (obtaining at least 80% of the total possible points). This requirement applies to all candidates, regardless of their achievements in Olympiads and competitions, with the proviso that candidates who hold the title of medalist in an international Olympiad recognized in the admission process for this programme (assigned to mathematics or computer science) receive 100% of the possible points from the interview without the need to participate in it.

A candidate who does not meet the formal requirement receives 0 points and cannot be admitted to the programme, regardless of any other results they may have.

Application form

During application submission, the candidate is asked to complete a form regarding the document confirming their eligibility for the studies. Candidates applying on the basis of an international secondary education document, the European Baccalaureate, or a Polish maturity certificate must upload scans of all required documents to the application form to calculate the final admission result.

How is the result calculated?

Qualification criteria are the same for all candidates, regardless of the type of exams they passed and the school they finished. Polish Matura (2005—2026)

Attention! Remember to enter the results of your Matura advanced-level exams into the IRK system until the last day of submitting applications in a given application round. If you fail to enter your results on time, you may be awarded 0 points and not be admitted to studies. 

There is no need to upload a scan of your Matura exam certificate into the IRK system.

How is the result calculated?

Only the results of the written part of the advanced-level exam are considered (multiplying factor 1). Advanced (multiplying factor 1) or bilingual-levels (multiplying factor 4/3, up to 100 points) are accepted for foreign languages.

Results from the oral part of the exam or basic-level exams from any subject, or bilingual-level exams from subjects other than foreign languages, are not considered. The grades from the secondary school certificate and the results of the professional examinations are also not considered and do not affect the candidate’s qualification result.

International Baccalaureate

Attention! Remember to enter the results of your International Baccalaureate into the IRK system until the last day of submitting applications in a given application round. If you fail to enter your results on time, you may be awarded 0 points and not be admitted to studies.

There is no need to upload a scan of your International Baccalaureate Diploma into the IRK system. Translation for this document is also not required. 

How is the result calculated?

Grades from the IB exams are computed by the following formula: grade * 100/7

The results of the International Baccalaureate exams are assigned to the relevant subjects of the Polish Matura exam. The results of the Standard Level exams are assigned to the basic level (in addition, a multiplier of 1/2 will be applied), and the Higher Level exams – to the higher (multiplying factor 1) or bilingual level (only for foreign languages from the first group – multiplying factor: 4/3, up to 100 points). 

Important: Eligibility for studies is confirmed only by the IB Diploma (IB DB programme). Documents submitted for enrolment must include “Diploma awarded” information.

Not every foreign examination is an International Baccalaureate (IB) – make sure it is the correct type of exam, and if in doubt, check the “International secondary examination” section as well.

European Baccalaureate

Attention! Remember to upload scans of your European Baccalaureate to the “European Baccalaureate – documents” form during application submission. Your results can be calculated only based on these documents. If you fail to submit the scans on time, you may be awarded 0 points and not be admitted to studies.

For all documents issued in a language other than Polish or English, a sworn translation into Polish or English should be uploaded to the IRK system along with the original document.

How is the result calculated?

Results from the written part of the European Baccalaureate examination are assigned to the relevant subjects of the Polish Matura exam. Grades from the EB exams are computed by the following formula: grade * 10

Assignment to the higher level (multiplying factor 1), bilingual (multiplying factor: 4/3, up to 100 points) or basic level (multiplier of 1/2 will be applied) depends on the number of hours of the given course, with details you can read on the website: European Baccalaureate (information available in Polish only).

Not every foreign examination is a European Baccalaureate (EB) – make sure it is the correct type of exam, and, if in doubt, check the “International secondary examination” section as well.

International secondary education documents

Attention! Remember to upload scans of your international secondary education documents to the “International secondary education – documents” form during application submission. Your results can be calculated only based on these documents. If you fail to submit the scans on time, you may be awarded 0 points and not be admitted to studies.

For all documents issued in a language other than Polish or English, a sworn translation into Polish or English should be uploaded to the IRK system along with the original document.  

How is the result calculated?

Results from foreign examinations are mapped to the Polish Matura subjects and converted to the 0–100 scale. Assignment of the calculated result to the basic (multiplying factor ½), higher (multiplying factor 1) or bilingual level (multiplying factor: 4/3, up to 100 points) is closely related to the type of foreign exam.

Each document is analysed individually – read the information on our website to learn the basic principles of computing the results: international secondary education documents (available in Polish only).

In some educational systems, exam results or their equivalents are in a separate document. Read which documents are necessary to calculate the result. It will sometimes differ from the document confirming your eligibility to study.  

Make sure this is the correct type of exam, and, if in doubt, check the “International Baccalaureate” and “European Baccalaureate” sections as well.

Polish maturity certificate

Attention! Remember to upload scans of your Polish maturity certificate to the “Polish maturity certificate – documents” form during application submission. Your results can be calculated only based on these documents. If you fail to submit the scans on time, you may be awarded 0 points and not be admitted to studies.

How is the result calculated?

Basic level: Results from the Polish maturity certificate are assigned to the relevant Polish Matura subjects at the basic level and are computed to match the 0–100 scale (a multiplier of 1/2 will be applied).

Higher level: Holders of the Polish maturity examination certificate (issued only until 2005) can take part in the Matura exam organised by the Central Examination Board (Centralna Komisja Egzaminacyjna) to obtain the results at the higher level. Candidates who have passed this additional examination must upload the OKE certificate to the “Polish maturity certificate – documents” form during application.

This document is no longer issued. Make sure it is the correct type of matura exam, and if in doubt, check the “Polish Matura (2005–2026)” section as well – it concerns the matura exam currently carried out in Poland by the Central Examination Commission (Centralna Komisja Egzaminacyjna). 

Olympiads and competitions

Attention! Laureates of olympiads and competitions are obliged to participate in the admission process like the other candidates: create an account, submit an application, pay the application fee and meet all the requirements for admission to the chosen study programme.

Olympiads

Each Olympiad recognised in the admission process for the Jagiellonian University is assigned to one of the 19 Polish Matura exam subjects considered in the recruitment procedure. Laureates and finalists of the Olympiads can use their rights in the admission for those programmes for which the subject assigned to their olympiads is taken into consideration according to the “Qualification criteria” section.

• Laureates receive the maximum qualification score – first place in the ranking list (provided they have met the formal requirement). 
• Finalists receive 100% points from the subjects assigned to this Olympiad, and all subjects are in the same group (provided they have met the formal requirement).  

To ensure that achievement in the Olympiad will be considered in the admission process, you must add the appropriate document to your IRK account. It is not necessary to upload the certificate scan confirming the achievement.

Competitions

Competition achievements are not considered during admission to programmes in foreign languages. 

Admission schedule

A detailed admission schedule is available on the website: admission schedule.

An additional application round is opened only for the programmes with free places. Rounds for different programmes can start several days following the announcement of the results. Stay up to date with the information published in the IRK system. 

Enrolment for studies

The documents below must be delivered to the secretary’s office during the enrolment dates after receiving “qualified” status. Please familiarise yourself with the list of documents and prepare them in advance. It is necessary to present all the documents for enrolment.

Description of the enrolment procedure is available on the website: enrolment. 

Enrolment is made remotely (by correspondence) only by the deadline specified in the schedule – the candidate has to send scans of a complete set of documents and then deliver the originals for inspection to the student office no later than September 25, 2026. Remote enrolment is possible only by August 31, 2026.

In September, you can only enrol in person at the student office. During enrolment, it is necessary to submit copies of all the documents, along with the originals for inspection. You cannot send the document by post or courier.

Check the information about enrolment by a representative and the enrolment of minors. 

List of required documents

Some of the documents have to be downloaded from your IRK account:

• personal questionnaire – Attention! You can only download the questionnaire if your photo was accepted by the administrator, so you should upload it to the system in advance;
• declaration for candidates-minors – if the candidate is under 18 at the date of enrollment;
• power of attorney – if a candidate is enrolled by a representative;
• declaration for correspondence enrollment.

It is also mandatory to submit:

• identity document: valid passport or EU-citizen ID card;
• document entitling the holder to undertake studies:
• Polish Matura certificate or International Baccalaureate Diploma or, European Baccalaureate certificate or secondary education document entitling the holder to undertake studies in its country of issue or Polish maturity certificate;
• sworn translation into Polish or English of documents issued in a language other than Polish or English (does not apply to IB diplomas);
• apostille or legalisation of a certificate obtained outside Poland (does not apply to IB and EB matura exams) – Attention! It also applies to the documents issued in the European Union. In some cases, a later submission of an apostille can be accepted. Check the information on the website: apostille;
• individual official statement issued by the Director of NAWA (or a decision by the education superintendent issued by June 30, 2025) confirming the holder’s eligibility to pursue higher education in Poland (required for the documents issued outside the EU, OECD and EFTA except Ukraine and Chinese gaozhong diploma. 
• document confirming achievement from an Olympiad, if the achievement was considered;
• documents uploaded to the IRK during the application submission;
• additional documents required in the qualification criteria.
