Remember to regularly check information provided in the IRK system (tab “Messages”) or sent by e-mail. You will be informed about the next steps or asked to provide additional data.

Once all those steps are completed, confirmed and paid applications will be checked and reviewed. If an exam is included in the qualification criteria, you will be informed about its date. Results of the admissions process are published regularly throughout the application round.

Who can apply?

Studies can be undertaken by people who hold:

  • diploma of higher education (at least Licencjat or equivalent, e.g. bachelor) awarded in any field.

A diploma obtained at a foreign university is equal to the documents issued in Poland as long as it confirms the candidate's eligibility to undertake the second-cycle programmes of study.

Qualified candidates need to have graduated from the declared study programme by the time of enrollment and have at least a certificate of graduation.

Qualification criteria

Admission rules have been established in the resolution no. 58/V/2024 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University of 29 May 2024.

The final admission result is calculated based on the following elements:

element weight
document analysis 100% (provided that additional formal requirement is met)

Results on the document entitling to undertake studies are not considered in the calculation of the final admission result.

Document analysis

Other element calculated based on the analysis of documents submitted by the candidate, allocating points as follows:

  1. Application content—maximum of 70 points, including:
    • grades in the transcript—25 points;
    • alignment of past education and completed studies with the profile of the chosen programme—10 points;
    • academic and non-academic experience, or other achievements substantially related to the programme topic—25 points;
    • foreign language proficiency—10 points;

      2. Motivation—maximum of 30 points—motivation for undertaking the programme, relevance and originality of academic interests and research plans related to preparing the Master thesis, presented in the application (maximum of 6000 characters).

Additional formal requirement – verification of the command of English

An additional formal requirement is passing the interview, verifying the candidate's command of the English language. The interview is passed successfully upon earning at least 60% of the total points. Holders of documents confirming competency in the English language at the B2 level are awarded 100% of the total points and are not required to take the interview. A list of selected documents confirming the command of English recognized at the Jagiellonian University, may be found here: list of documents.

Candidates who do not hold any of the documents accepted by Jagiellonian University are required to participate in an interview verifying their command of English at the B2 level.

Candidates are notified of the interview details individually through their IRK accounts (tab “Messages”). Attention! Only candidates who have confirmed their applications will be invited to the interview.

The interviews will be conducted online (via Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.). To take part in the interview, please note that you will need a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as a webcam (you will be asked to show your ID card to the camera in order to verify your identity). You are also expected to answer the questions without any assistance.

  • the course of study they have graduated from (upon the time of enrollment).
