Useful information

Who can apply?

Studies can be undertaken by the holders of:

  • diploma of higher education (at least Licencjat or equivalent, e.g. bachelor) awarded in any field.

An international diploma has to prove the candidate's eligibility to undertake the second-cycle programmes of study in the country of issue. 

Qualified candidates need to have graduated from the declared study programme by the time of enrolment.

Formal requirement

In order to undertake this studies it is required to submit along with an application one of the following documents confirming candidate’s competency in English at least at level B2:

  • Cambridge B2 First (grade C or higher);
  • Cambridge C1 Advanced;
  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency;
  • IELTS Academic (at least 5.5 points);
  • TOEFL (at least: iBT: 72 points, ITP: 543 points, CBT: 180 points);
  • higher education diploma in the field of English Philology (English Studies);
  • higher education diploma, if the language of instruction was English;
  • IB diploma;
  • EB certificate;
  • citizenship of a country in which English is the official language;
  • other documents (e.g. transcript mark confirming passing the university English language course at least at B2 level).

Calculating the final result

Admission rules have been established in the resolution no. 46/V/2023 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University of 31 May 2023.

The final admissions result is calculated based on the following elements:

Results on the document entitling to undertake studies are not considered in the calculation of the final admission result.

About the interview

The aim of the interview is to assess candidate's aptitude for the programme, and their English proficiency.

Place and time of the interview

The interview takes place on the day specified in the admission schedule.

Candidates are notified of the interview details individually through their IRK accounts at least a day before the beginning of the exam session specified in the schedule. 

The interviews will be conducted online (Microsoft Teams, Skype etc.). To take part in the interview, please note that you will need a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as a webcam (your identity will be verified with the identity document you will be asked to show to the camera, and you are expected to answer questions without assistance of other people).

When applying, candidates have to fill out a form regarding:

  • the course of study they have graduated (upon the time of enrolment),
  • declaration of the fulfilment of the formal criteria described in the section "Who can apply?";

When applying, candidates have to upload into the system:

  • a document confirming their knowledge of English at least at level B2 (only certificates listed in the section "Who can apply?" will be accepted).

  • personal questionnaire
  • form “Basis for application“
  • power of attorney (if a candidate is enrolled by a representative)
  • declaration of correspondence enrolment (in September, enrolment is only possible in person)

documents, copies of which should be provided together with the originals for inspection

ATTENTION! Please familiarize yourself with the list of required documents and prepare them in advance, as their collection may take longer than the time allocated admission to studies. 

  • valid passport or ID card of an UE citizen (only for inspection, no copies)
  • diploma of higher education entitling to undertake second-cycle studies*
  • certified translation into Polish or English of documents issued in a language other than Polish or English
  • decision issued by the director of Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange or by Polish Minister
  • documents uploaded to IRK during submission of application

Documents which can be delivered until September 26:

  • apostille or legalization of a certificate obtained outside Poland
  • document confirming the medical insurance

*If the candidate has not yet received the document of their diploma, they may in its place submit a certificate of graduation, together with a written statement that they undertake to deliver a copy of the diploma with the original document available for inspection by 26 September 2024.

Tuition fee payment

A tuition fee is required from all foreigners. The fee amount is listed at the top of the page, in the “About the programme” section.

Candidates, who hold NAWA's decision entitling them to exemption from the tuition fees before the enrolment are obliged to declare correct basis for undertaking the studies during the application. It is also possible to change the rules for financing studies in case of obtaining the decision after the enrolment. More information: fees.
