Continuous admission process

Applications to this programme are reviewed continuously. In this admission mode we encourage all candidates to regularly check messages sent to them in their IRK accounts, which will help the process. Steps required in the continuous admission process:

  • submit your application for the chosen programme;
  • enter all required data into the system and upload documents;
  • pay the application fee;
  • confirm the application by clicking on the "Confirm" button in the “Application“ tab.
    PLEASE NOTE! Before you confirm your application, ensure that all recruitment requirements have been met (required data have been entered into the system, the documents have been uploaded, and the application fee has been paid). Once the application is confirmed, it cannot be edited.

Once all those steps are completed and requirements are satisfied, the application will be checked and reviewed. Results of the admissions process are published regularly throughout the application round (except August 2024). Each results publication includes candidates, whose correctly submitted applications were already reviewed.

Who can apply?

Studies can be undertaken by people who hold:

  • diploma of higher education (at least Licencjat or equivalent, e.g. bachelor) awarded in any field.

An international diploma has to prove the candidate’s eligibility to undertake the second-cycle programmes of study in the country of issue.

Qualified candidates need to have graduated from the declared study programme by the time of enrolment.

Application

To apply for your chosen programme, please click on the green "Sign up" button on the right side of the screen.
Please remember to fill out all required data and upload the documents needed. After completing the application, you must confirm it by clicking on the "Confirm" button in the “Application“ tab.

Attention! Once the application is confirmed, it cannot be edited. Only confirmed applications are considered.

Documents required during the submission of the application

Upon the submission of the application, candidates have to fill out a form containing questions about the:

  • the course of study they have graduated from (upon the time of enrolment),
  • planned application for a WIPO scholorship,
  • current employed situation.

Upon the submission of the application, candidates upload copies of the following documents:

  • scan of higher education diploma—the diploma has to include information that the candidate is eligible to undertake second-cycle programs; if the diploma does not include such information, a document confirming that the diploma entitles them to undertake second-cycle programs should be added (list of diplomas where this is not required is available at welcome.uj.edu.pl in the “Higher education diploma” part). If the candidate does not yet have the physical copy of the diploma, they should upload a copy of the certificate confirming that they have graduated. If they have not yet graduated, a copy of a certificate stating the predicted graduation date should be uploaded (it cannot be later than the enrolment deadline),
  • scan of motivation letter—the letter should be written in English and highlight: completed courses in the field of Law (especially Civil Law or Intellectual Property Law), Management, Economy, or other courses at least partially related to the broad field of Intellectual Property and/or New Technologies, or scope of candidate’s experience related to the field of Intellectual Property and/or New Technologies,
  • Curriculum Vitae (résumé)—the Curriculum Vitae should be written in English and highlight: information about place of employment, job position and employment dates.

Only paid and confirmed applications will be considered.

Calculating the final result

Admission rules have been established in the resolution no. 46/V/2023 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University of 31 May 2023.

The final admission result is calculated based on the following elements:

element scale weight
motivation letter assessment points awarded on a scale from 0 to 100 50%
interview points awarded on a scale from 0 to 100 50%

Results on the document entitling to undertake studies are not considered in the calculation of the final admission result.

About the result calculation

Admission process is divided into two stages.

During the first stage, candidate’s motivation letter is assessed (on the scale from 0 to 50 points). The motivation letter, composed in English, highlights:

  • completed courses in the field of Law (especially Civil Law or Intellectual Property Law), Management, Economy, or other courses at least partially related to the broad field of Intellectual Property and/or New Technologies Law, or
  • scope of candidate's experience to date related to the field of Intellectual Property and/or New Technologies.

Only candidates who were awarded the highest number of points during the first stage are invited to the second stage of the procedure (i.e. the interview), in number exceeding by half the number of places available (number of places available in the current application round + 50%). Candidates who do not take part in the interview are awarded 0 (zero) points for that stage. The interview covers candidate’s motivation and qualifications for undertaking the programme as well as their English command (B2 level).

Candidate’s result is the sum total of points awarded to the candidate during both stages of the qualification process.

Place and time of the interview

The interview takes place on the day specified in the admission schedule.

Candidates are notified of the interview details individually through their IRK accounts.

The interviews will be conducted online (via Microsoft Teams, Skype etc.). To take part in the interview, please note that you will need a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as a webcam (you will be asked to show your ID card to the camera in order to verify your identity). You are also expected to answer the questions without any assistance.

Final result and enrolment

After reviewing the application, the candidate receives information in the IRK on their final result and qualification status.
Qualified candidates are obliged to complete their enrolment by the date specified in the admission schedule.
