Continuous admission process

Applications to this programme are reviewed continuously. In this admission mode we encourage all candidates to regularly check messages sent to them in their IRK accounts, which will help the process. Steps required in the continuous admission process:

  • submit your application for the chosen programme;
  • enter all required data into the system and upload documents;
  • pay the application fee;
  • confirm the application by clicking on the "Confirm" button in the “Application“ tab.
    PLEASE NOTE! Before you confirm your application, ensure that all recruitment requirements have been met (required data have been entered into the system, the documents have been uploaded, and the application fee has been paid). Once the application is confirmed, it cannot be edited.

Once all those steps are completed and requirements are satisfied, the application will be checked and reviewed. Results of the admissions process are published regularly throughout the application round (except August 2024). Each results publication includes candidates, whose correctly submitted applications were already reviewed.

Who can apply?

Studies can be undertaken by people who hold:

  • diploma of higher education (at least Licencjat or equivalent, e.g. bachelor) awarded in any field.

An international diploma has to prove the candidate’s eligibility to undertake the second-cycle programmes of study in the country of issue.

Qualified candidates need to have graduated from the declared study programme by the time of enrolment.

To apply for your chosen programme, please click on the green "Sign up" button on the right side of the screen.
Please remember to fill out all required data and upload the documents needed. After completing the application, you must confirm it by clicking on the "Confirm" button in the “Application“ tab.

Attention! Once the application is confirmed, it cannot be edited. Only confirmed applications are considered.

Documents required during the submission of the application

Upon the submission of application, candidates have to fill out a form containing questions about the:

  • course of study they have graduated from;
  • explanation of the motivation for their choice of programme;
  • description of candidate's research interests and provisional dissertation topic;
  • providing a source of information regarding admission to this programme.

Upon the submission of application, candidates upload copies of the following documents:

  • motivation letter written in English;
  • reference letters (candidates are required to upload reference letters in PDF format. Candidates or the authors of the reference letters can send them directly to the office address isad@uj.edu.pl.).

Candidates who hold a document confirming their command of English which may be the basis for an exemption from taking part in the interview should upload the document into the system. A list of selected documents confirming the command of English, recognized at the Jagiellonian University, may be found here: a list of documents.

Only paid and confirmed applications will be considered.

Calculating the final result

Admission rules have been established in the resolution no. 46/V/2023 of the Senate of the Jagiellonian University of 31 May 2023.

The final admission result is calculated based on the following elements:

element scale weight additional formal requirement
documents analysis on a scale from 0 to 100 100% Passing the interview verifying candidate’s command of the English language. The interview is passed successfully upon earning at least 60% of total points. *

*Holders of documents confirming competency in the English language at least at the B2 level are awarded 100% of total points and are not required to take the interview. List of selected documents confirming the command of English, recognized at the Jagiellonian University, may be found here: list of documents.

The results of the documents (degree), which entitle candidates to study at JU, are not considered to calculate the outcome of the admission process.

About the documents analysis

The final admission result is calculated on the basis of the result of the analysis of documents submitted by the candidate, allocating points as follows:

  1. assessment of the motivation letter written in English (preliminary thesis project will also be assessed as part of the motivation letter)—maximum of 50 points,
  2. assessment of two reference letters—maximum of 50 points (max. 25 points per letter).

Place and time of the interview verifying the command of English

The interview takes place on the day specified in the admission schedule.

Candidates are notified of the interview details individually through their IRK accounts.

The interviews will be conducted online (via Microsoft Teams, Skype etc.). To take part in the interview, please note that you will need a stable Internet connection, a working microphone and headphones or speakers, as well as a webcam (you will be asked to show your ID card to the camera in order to verify your identity). You are also expected to answer the questions without any assistance.
